What Have We Done?!
Normal people do lots of research on a property before they plunk down a wad of money. We did not. We might regret that.
Our “First Look” took place a month or so after we closed on the property. The real estate listing explicitly forbade entering the house, and truly the front porch was so rotted no sane person would even attempt to walk on it and go inside.
So, once the property was ours, we threw some scrap plywood on the porch to disperse our weight, carefully navigated the treacherous stairs, and walked inside. Actually, Sean went in first as we legit didn’t know if we’d encounter dangerous animals or vagrants inside.

The back of the house is….eek.
Whoooooo doggy!! As evidenced by the “carpet” of black droppings on the floors, the main resident for several years had been rodents. What an absolute mess.
Rot, rats, probably should be razed. Mais non! This is our chance to restore to its former glory.
The house had been vacant for decades and it shows…

But first: gotta get the ball rolling on permits.
